PHYSICIAN

“I am one (whole) physician. Getting to that point hasn’t been easy, but perseverance pays off. My hometown is San Antonio, Texas. I graduated from St. Mary’s University (Go Rattlers!) and then attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. My family practice residency at Valley Baptist was a wild adventure in learning and serving and growing. I was the first female chief resident at the program and still marvel at the influence this program has had in my life. I certainly would not be the physician I am today had I not been a part of this supportive family. After five years in my private practice “The Family Doctor”, I returned to the program as a faculty. I love my work and for me it is a calling. I am able to work and serve well, because of my loving husband, Javier and two beautiful children, Michael and Nadia. My interests range from geriatric medicine to adolescent education to triathlons to taekwondo. I am a Christian, wife, mother, daughter, friend and physician. One (Whole) physician.”

“I am one (whole) physician, by God’s grace. I find wholeness as a physician only in submission to the authority of Jesus, following His lead to share the hope and grace of the gospel. Without Him I am merely a peddler of medication and empty assurances, but as His instrument I become a minister of the divine promise that He will bring an end to death and redeem all tragedy and suffering so that everything works out for the eternal good of those who love Him. As a graduate of Valley Baptist FP residency and now as a faculty member, I am dedicated to raising up a new generation of Christian family docs and their families to serve the Lord Jesus. One (whole) physician.”
